Who is Tiny House Retreats?

We bring the luxury spa experience to your home.

Hi, I’m Jane…

founder and owner of Tiny House Retreats.

With life becoming busier than ever, trying to find time amongst work and family life for ourselves can seem impossible and often becomes detrimental to our physical and mental wellbeing. Unlike a traditional bricks and mortar spa, Tiny House Retreats offers the flexibility of bringing the spa experience to you, in the comfort of your own home and in a time that works with your busy schedule.

Spa and wellness have been a part of my life since I left school. I studied International Spa Management at the industry reputable University of Derby in Buxton - a thermal spa town nestled in the picturesque Peak District. I was very lucky to combine theory based learning with experiential training, taking a hands on approach to my studies at the onsite Devonshire Day Spa that was integrated within my course., and provided me with a real-world immersion into the industry and helped me shape first-class customer service and treatment skills.

Shortly after completing my degree, I was invited by the University to become a Spa Trainer and Assessor, where I became a mentor to new students, supportively guiding them through their studies and hands-on learning. I delivered Elemis treatment training, taught relevant spa modules and assessed practical treatments. At the onsite Spa I developed the students’ understanding of the retail spa environments, led them through health and hygiene practices and fine tuned their customer-facing confidence. It was through this teaching experience, that I was able to develop management and leadership expertise.

During my time in the Peak District I held various professional roles including Beauty Therapist, Treatment Manager and Spa Manager. A highlight of my career was managing the Buxton Devonshire Spa; maintaining high standards of practice, managing teams of therapists and ensuring guest satisfaction. I also enjoyed my time as Treatment Manager at My Personal Sanctuary where I coordinated teams of therapists to provide spa treatments to tourists staying in holiday cottages in the Peak District Area.

In 2018, a new job prospect for my husband brought us to Cambridge. I noticed that although the demand for wellbeing and spa treatments remained the same, accessibility was very different. I set out to find a way that would make the spa experience accessible to everyone from full-time workers to busy mums, without the need to schedule a day off.

As a mum of two I know how important it is to look after yourself, so I wanted to create a service that is convenient, flexible and focuses on you. I truly believe that self-care and wellness should be seen as a viable and accessible necessity, not a luxury. Combined with my love for making people feel relaxed and good about themselves, Tiny House Retreats was born.

I believe everyone should experience the power of touch - but in your time, for you.
